Late Filing Facts

When February 1st hit if you hadn’t filled your self-assessment then you’ll likely be issued an automatic fine of £100 from HMRC.

But that is not the end of the story, if you continue to lapse on your filing duties this isn’t the only fine you will pay.

The table shown is the breakdown of the fees that you will face if you keep putting off your self-assessment

Be aware, These fees are cumulative, the longer you wait the more you will pay. This is on top of the interest that that will accrue from the late payments.

February 1st
Everyday until the 90-day maximum
3 Months late
6 Months late
£300 or 5% of the tax due
(whichever is greater)
12 Months late
£300 or 5% of the tax due
(whichever is greater)
